TS130 side press window dimensions

Understanding side-press window dimensions

When a builder or architect asks about side press window dimensions, they are rarely after a single number. A side-pressure window is a hybrid: it slides like a conventional slider, then, when locked, presses the sash laterally against the frame gasket to reach casement-grade sealing. That mechanism is defined by a set of cross-section measurements and by how many panels you arrange. Reading those numbers correctly is what separates a window that drops into the rough opening from one that actually seals, insulates, and carries the glass safely.

The dimensions that actually define the window

A spec sheet for a side-press window is a list of cross-section figures. On the ALPES TS130 these are the numbers that matter:

  • Frame wall width (130 mm). The full depth the system occupies in the wall. A deeper frame leaves more room for a wide thermal-break strip and a thicker insulated glass unit.
  • Glass sash thickness (55 mm). The depth of the moving panel that holds the glass. This sets the maximum insulated-glass thickness the window can accept.
  • Sash width (75 mm). The visible vertical member of the moving panel, and a big part of how slim the finished sightline looks.
  • Frame width (26 mm). The visible face of the fixed frame against the wall.
  • Track height (53 / 31 mm). Two track options: a 53 mm track for exposed, weather-facing installations and a low 31 mm track for a near-flush interior threshold.

How the opening configuration changes the unit width

The TS130 supports two panel layouts:

  • One fixed plus one movable - a double sliding window arrangement where one panel slides past a fixed light.
  • Middle fixed plus two sides movable - a three-panel layout with a central fixed pane flanked by two sliding sashes.

The overall unit width is the sum of its panel widths plus the frame members between them; the daylight (glass) opening is what remains after subtracting the 75 mm sash widths and the 26 mm frame faces. Because the TS130 glass sash is 55 mm thick and rides on 200 kg load-bearing pulleys with an eight-point locking system, it can carry large insulated panes - but the maximum single-sash height and width are project-specific and must be confirmed with ALPES engineering against your wind-load and glass-weight case.

Sizing it for your project: five checks

  • Rough opening vs frame size. The 130 mm frame wall width sits inside the structural opening; leave the usual jamb and reveal tolerance called for by your wall build-up.
  • Daylight opening. Subtract the 75 mm sash widths and 26 mm frame faces from the unit width to see the actual glass you get.
  • Glass weight vs pulley capacity. The 200 kg load-bearing pulleys set the upper bound for pane mass; heavier low-E, laminated, or acoustic units need confirming against that rating.
  • Panel count vs traffic and ventilation. Pick the fixed-plus-movable or middle-fixed layout based on how much clear opening you need.
  • Net clear opening and egress. For bedrooms and habitable rooms, confirm the sliding daylight meets your local egress rules before locking the design.

Why a cross-section beats a single max-size number

Many buyers ask for one maximum dimension. The honest answer is that a side-press window's real limit is set by the interplay of profile thickness (1.8 - 2.0 mm here), the 200 kg pulley rating, and the glass weight of your chosen insulated unit - not by a catalog figure alone. ALPES builds the TS130 on 6060-T66 aluminum and uses PA66GF25 multi-chamber thermal breaks across its system window line, then validates each project's maximum sizes against the actual glazing and wind load.

If you are comparing standard sliding window sizes across suppliers, the fastest way to get a real number for your opening is to send ALPES the rough-opening dimensions, the glass specification you want, and the local wind-load zone. The engineering team returns a confirmed maximum single-sash size and a panel layout that fits.

Questions to put in your RFQ

  • Confirmed maximum single-sash width and height for my glass specification and wind zone.
  • Which track height (53 mm or 31 mm) suits my threshold and exposure.
  • Frame wall width and glass sash thickness so my wall build-up and glazing match.
  • Pulley and locking details (200 kg pulleys, eight-point locking) for my pane weight.
  • Screen mesh option (80# black/grey or 40# black S/S) and the available colors.

For the maximum sliding window size in your specific opening, treat the cross-section numbers above as the starting point and let ALPES engineering size the rest.
